I just the other day realized that I hadn't done a post about the ducks in an awful long time. So before they notice and get affended (ha-ha), here is the newest post about a duck related subject...
If you go to the History, Present and Future page you'll notice that nature has left me with the perdicament of completing several patchwork breeding pairs. I have 'tentatively purchased' a trio of one female and two male apparently sub-standard Buff Orpingtons to make a set with Molly (two breeding pairs). Meanwhile, I search for a male Silver Appleyard to breed to Sally (the Rouen). The Trout and Grey (both Aleutian carriers) offspring they produce will be saved to breed... Molly and (secret name of other female orpington) will produce a number of bibbed offspring (Buffs and Blacks are notorious for producing bibbed offspring).
So...
Looking into the future, I have..
- Offspring from ? X Molly (Bibbed Buff)
- Offspring from ? X ? (Bibbed Buff)
- Offspring from ? X Sally (Grey Aleutian Carriers)
Breed together the 1 & 2 offspring
Breed together the 3 offspring...
That will give me Bibbed Buffs from 1 & 2, and some Aleutians (among other things) from the 3 offspring.
They will be crossed, and backcrossed, and a new breed will arise... It's name kept unpublished...
